Does your butt and hip sink far into this mattress if you have back problems or is it still firm in that area?
I have hip and back problems as well.This mattress is great! It is comfortable and has plenty of support.We have given it five stars,and continue to love our mattress.It's the best mattress we've bought in the last ten years. This being the third queen size.It's a real bargain,and is a quality mattress. Highly recommended!!??

This mattress is uniformly firm, so much so that I use a 2"latex topper so that my hips and shoulders don't hurt while sleeping on my side, while still firm enough to protect my back (I have scoliosis). I've had it 7 months and it does not sag.

Does this mattress sleep hot?
As for someone who lives in Hawai'i and it has been brutally hot and humid the pass two days, I can say, no!!! Of course, I had the fan on, but I've slept on memory foam before and no matter how many fans I had going, I'd be sweating!! I absolutely love this mattress!!

how firm is this bed in one to ten scale - ten as extra firm
It depends on how much you weigh. I weigh 110 so the springs barely move when I lay down, making it a 8 or 9. Charles weighs 210, the springs give more for him and he would say 5 or 6. The latex part is not very thick. I still love it though. Very strong, Still no sagging in the center.

I have the 10"mattress which I would say is a 7 or an 8 - but with give fir hips & shoulders for side sleeping

I would say about a 7. You definitely don't get that 'sink-in' feeling that you get with memory foam. For me, that is a plus.
